Notable things:

The visibility is actually really good

Pretty comfortable ride yet firm enough to not feel like it has suspension made of tofu

The Speedometer is not angled towards you so the speed you are reading may not be as accurate as you would hope

The seats left much to be desired

Fit and finish of the interior was actually pretty decent

Did you have toys and tech options available to try out? I’ve never seen Sync in action. I wonder if it’s any good.

Yep. It’s not as bad as everyone says. Although I have to admit I prefer BMW iDrive over it. The screen is rather small so it doesn’t display what’s in the menu before the current one. Makes it kind of hard to figure out where the hell you are. The button layout though is a mess. It was also my first time using a button handbrake. I can see why people don’t like them. Very strange.

SE, SEL, Sport, Titanium, Hybrid, or Energi? I’m guessing SE, based on the small Sync screen.

Thanks. I'm keeping an eye because a Mustang convertible is one of my options for my next car.

How’s the transmission/shifting quality?

Was it the ~4" basic SYNC screen or the larger full screen? (Size of a phone vs. size of a tablet?)

Actually really interested:

Take some pics of the interior and the speedo from the driver’s POV?

Yep, SE. The buttons were abysmal.

Size of a phone. I wish it was the tablet sized one. That probably would have made it better.

I can’t really since it’s a company car and I only had it for the day. Although here’s the best image I found on google.

Kinja'd!!!

It’s a combination of the speedo being completely flat so it doesn’t keep a constant angle with your field of vision and the needly actually being tall and thick so it obscures where the needle point lands. I know some cars angle it so the right side of the speedometer is closer to the driver. I imagine it would help with visibility.

I had the auto. It wasn’t bad actually. A decent amount of grunt from the engine and smooth shifts from the auto.

Yes.

Yes.

My parents’ has MyFordTouch so it has a central speedo and two screen on each side so it’s not an issue.

Wow, really? The seats are one of my favorite things.

Eh...disagree. My parents’ is abysmally put together in places.

Hmm, which seats the cloth seats in my SE, are the most comfortable seat I have ever been in.

My mom has a 2013 Fusion Energi Titanium. She likes it a lot, though her lease is ending soon. She might spring for a regular Titanium.

my taurus has the same layout. I'd rather have a real tach and a small center screen, but maybe im old fashioned that way.

That explains the seats. SE Fords usually have awful, flat seats. Upgrading to a SEL/Titanium is almost worth it for the seats alone.

You can even do this with the 8" screen.

I agree. Like you I’m a pretty hefty guy so that maybe why I find the seats great. Maybe they are not so good for smaller people. I hear a lot of people complain about the seats and I absolutely love them. This is one of the most comfortable cars I’ve owned.

I like the Fusion Seats better than the ones in my much more expensive Taurus SHO.

I have genuinely never sat in a more comfortable car seat. They hug in all the right places and never seem to feel hard on your butt, even after a 3 hour car ride. The only seats that come close are the seats in my M3, of all cars.

I recently did a cross western canada road trip where I would drive 5-6 hours a day non stop and never once complained that I needed a break.

The Fusion is a massive home run all around. The only thing I’d replace my Fusion with is another Fusion (aka Fusion Sport)

I knew you had a Taurus but I failed to notice it was an SHO. Good on you. I love the exterior size and the power of the taurus but that massive center console was a huge deal breaker. I loved how it drives but I couldn’t shake the feeling of how cramped it was for a full size car.

I have two complaints with my moms car: the lack of front seat headroom with the sunroof (I’m 6'4" and my hair barely grazes the headliner so I really shouldn’t complain), and some poor assembly in the interior on some components, though the dealer has been awesome in fixing nearly everything and I genuinely wonder if it has to do with it being built in the Mexico plant and not the Michigan plant.

Here’s my full review. I have two major complaints: No Mist setting for the wipers, and a lack of full traction control/stability off button without the performance pack, and the lack of storage in such a huge center console

I’m 5'4" so it’s a non issue. so far on mine I’ve had absolutely NOTHING go wrong with the car. I’ve had the wheels replaced because of a cosmetic issue(this is now a voluntary recall) other than that the car has been 100% flawless.

your review is pretty much spot on.

By mist setting are you talking like on the fusion where you press down on the stalk and the wipers only do one sweep? that feature is AWESOME.

The seats are probably because it’s a base SE model. I’m sure the titanium has better seats. But I am also kind of small. I’m only 5'8" and I’m mostly legs. So I think my gripe was the seats were too big and didn’t really hold me in.

Ours is an SE with the Appearance package so it has different fabric (this awesome feeling EcoCloth stuff) but it’s the same foam and stuff. Maybe they were just built for big guys, opposite the ST Recaros!
